Showers blew across the South Monday, hampering clean-up efforts from the storms that hit Sunday.

Aerial views of the tornado that struck Sunday in southern Mississippi confirm it stayed on the ground for nearly 75 miles.

That gave people in its path plenty of time to seek safety.

Mississippi's governor says a half hour warning the twister was coming kept serious casualties to a minimum.

"30 minutes may not seem like a long time, but when a tornado is bearing it gives you time to respond to get to a place of safety in your home," Governor Phil Bryant noted.

More than 80 people were hurt, two critically.

Hattiesburg was especially hard-hit by the twister.

Dozens of buildings were left mangled, including offices of the local Red Cross.
