Weather service issues flash flood warning for Clark County

LAS VEGAS -- The national weather service in Las Vegas has issued a flash flood warning for central Clark County in southern Nevada in effect until 2 a.m.

The National Weather Service Doppler radar at 7:53 p.m. indicated very heavy rain from a thunderstorm over north Central Clark County or 16 miles north of Floyd Lamb Park.

The storm producing very heavy rain was nearly stationary. A rain gage in the sheep range had recorded 2.8 inches of rain with this storm as of 7:50 p.m.

Locations impacted include runoff from this storm will drain down the south part of the sheep range eventually impacting the Mormon Well Road and then the Alamo road near corn creek.

Flash flooding is expected in washes low water crossings and on area roadways. Flash flooding is natures number one killer. To escape rising water move to higher ground. Never try to cross a flooded roadway or walk through floodwaters. Turn around, don't drown.
