LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Police in Las Vegas say a 28-year-old man faces an accessory to murder charge for helping an ex-convict and machete slaying suspect evade capture before a fatal shootout that left the gunman dead and a police officer wounded.
Police say Adam Burke Williamson went with 23-year-old Jason Baires on Tuesday to buy items including a chain saw, camp hatchets, trash bags and ice chest to try to dispose of the body of Baires' mother's slain boyfriend, Rodolfo Velasco-Bayardo.

Police have also said that Officer Theobald was shot and injured when he encountered Baires. Baires was killed in the incident. Theobald has been released from the hospital and is recovering.
The Clark County coroner reported Friday that Jason Baires died of head and chest wounds in the 2 a.m. Wednesday shootout that wounded a police officer.
Williamson was being held Friday at the Clark County jail pending an initial court appearance.
