LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) –
The man charged as a co-conspirator in last month’s fire at a southwest valley puppy store has had his bail set at $310,000.
The state sought a bail of $400,000, but Las Vegas Township Justice Court Judge Janiece Marshall set bail this morning at the same amount for Kirk Bills’ alleged co-conspirator, Gloria Lee.
Bills’ attorney, Roger Bailey, had sought a lower bail amount and argued that Bills was on a pre-planned trip to see his family in the Chicago area in the days following the fire at Prince & Princess Puppy Boutique on South Rainbow.
But the state showed evidence of a phone call between Lee and Bills during the nearly 10 days while he was on the run after the Jan. 27 fire. The state said the call showed that Lee knew Bills was fleeing from authorities rather than taking a planned trip to Indiana. Bills was arrested Feb. 6 in Crown Point, Ind. He was held in the Lake County Jail until being extradited back to Nevada.
Bills' preliminary hearing is set for March 10.
