LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Community members alerted Crime Stoppers in March about a couple accused running an illegal brothel near Eastern and Harris avenues, according to a police report.
Miguel Barahona and his pregnant girlfriend, Maricruz Ortiz-Guevara, were arrested last week, facing charges of pandering and accepting/receiving earnings from a prostitute.
According to the arrest report, police then started to closely watch their home in the 2400 block of East Kirk Avenue and noticed several vehicles coming and going.
Later, a cable installer emailed police, saying that while repairing an Internet line, he noticed women wearing “skimpy” clothing and saw nine different men in eight separate cars go inside the home.
Barahona, police said, later went to a Spanish advertising company to place an ad. Translated into English, it advertised "Young, beautiful girls to meet without any commitment. Special $40."
The surveillance continued until Thursday. SWAT executed a search warrant and took six people from the home -- the accused ringleaders, three women and a male customer.
According to the arrest report, the women admitted they were hired to work as prostitutes, getting half of the money they made through the day.
Ortiz-Guevara told police because she is seven months pregnant, Barahona had been helping. However he denied knowing any prostitution had taken place
Ortiz-Guevara and Barahona were released from jail and are scheduled to return to court at 8 a.m. Oct. 21.
