LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The Metro office and suspect involved in Friday's gunfire exchange near Carey Avenue and Dolly Lane have been identified.

The officer involved June 26 shooting has been identified as Officer Ryan McNabb. The suspect is identified as 30 year-old Joshua Bacharach of Las Vegas.

McNabb, while on patrol, attempted to stop a vehicle in area of Lake Mead Boulevard and Walnut Road when several shots were fired from inside the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle, driven by Bacharach, fled and continued firing as the McNabb followed. McNapp located the vehicle in the area of Carey Avenue and Dolly Lane.

As the officer approached the vehicle, Bacharach fired at McNabb. McNabb returned fire and Bacharach ran southbound into a neighborhood.

Arriving patrol officers and a K-9 officer located the Bacharach in the 4500 block of El Tovar Avenue. The officers gave the Bacharach several orders to surrender, but he did not comply. The K-9 dog was deployed and Bacharach was taken into custody.

The officer was not injured during the exchange of gunfire. Bacharach was transported to the University Medical Center Trauma Center where he was treated for injuries sustained from the K-9. No other injuries were reported.

Bacharach is currently housed at the Clark County Detention Center where he was booked on the following charges:

  • Attempt murder

  • Discharging a firearm from moving vehicle

  • Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person

  • Evading (felony)

Officer McNabb, 38, has been employed with the LVMPD since August, 2004. Officer McNabb is assigned to the Patrol Division, Northeast Area Command. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
