HENDERSON -- Two Clark County school teachers were arrested Monday, accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Bambi M. Dewey, 32, and John E. Stalmach, 31, were both taken into custody today and booked into the Henderson Detention Center on solicitation of minor to engage in acts constituting crime against nature charges. Stalmach was also charged with sexual conduct between certain employees of school or volunteers at school and pupil.

Dewey and Stalmach are accused of having sex with a 16-year-old female Basic High School student at a home in Henderson the couple shared. Stalmach is also accused of having sex with the girl without Dewey. The sex acts are alleged to have occurred between November 2011 and January 2012.

Dewey is a teacher at Brown Junior High School in Henderson and Stalmach is a teacher at Dailey Elementary School in Las Vegas. Stalmach did teach at Basic High School at one time and at Brown Junior High School. The 16-year-old girl was a student at Brown Junior High School when both Dewey and Stalmach taught there.

Dewey is being held into the Henderson Detention Center on $20,000 bond and Stalmach is being held on $60,000 bond. They are both scheduled for an initial appearance in Henderson Justice Court Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

I know many teahers who work 60+ hours a week, spend summer break taking required classes. They don't have inappropriate contact with students or walk out at end of school day "saying my contract time is up, I don't get paid enough to stay late". Their the type that become administrators, just kiss a lot of a** and screw up a lot, here comes the promotion. Want to be better teacher and get pay increase negotiated in contract, earn master degree, then Mr. Jones says sorry we don't have any more money. Mr. Jones has LESS education than many teachers, but is highest paid superintendent ever at CCSD. Time to vote in new school board.

Its not fair to categorize all teachers as these two Clark County teachers, but unionized teachers need to think of students first than pay and benefits. Teachers are public employees and you cannot hold the taxpayers hostage. There are thousand of teachers on administrative hold doing nothing but setting in a room, while on pay status, this is happening across the country. Teachers want a raise, get rid of all the dead weight of teachers that are on administrative disciplinary hold.

Why do I feel there may be something missing as far as screening applicants for teaching positions? Heavens no we may be infringing on someones privacy by asking pertinent questions that may raise a red flag about someone's desirability to guide our kids. As the so called "Progressives" would say, it may offend someone to ask if they have tendencies toward pedophilia.

WOW, seems like this is a yearly thing now, Sad that adults have to take advantage of a child that they are responsible to keep safe and educated. It very disturbing that she has a slight smile/smirk on her face. Almost like she was enjoying the attention or something, just sickening. To those making stupid comment I truly hope your being more sarcastic and whatnot rather than truly believing what you are saying. There are many fine teachers in this district that care for and dedicate their life to help educate and take care of the children of this city. More than I can say about some parents do....

According to dimbulb (how fitting) and VegasSmitty, all teachers belonging to the union are now pedephiles? If we are going with that line of reasoning all commenters to this thread are morons. Since I am not a moron, I can deduece that only certain people on this thread are morons. Can you two figure it out or do you need a teacher to help you? I guess ignorance is bliss and dimbulb and VegasSmitty must be incredibly blussful people. Come on you two...can you at least TRY not to sound as ignorant as you know you are?

Two of our Best and Brightest doing something like this. The allegation must be a figment of the girl's imagination. Teachers wouldn't have sex with their students. All of us know that because the Union says so. I guess the Taxpayers will have to now pay for their defense also. Maybe CCSD will add a ballot measure to help pay for the suit and the defense that comes from this.
