LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The man suspected in the death of a Las Vegas woman who had been reported missing more than three weeks ago appeared in court this morning.

Frank Kocka, the lawyer for Edward Kopp, 52, waived his client’s right to a preliminary hearing today at the Regional Justice Center and opted to go to arraignment in District Court. Kopp will return to court April 1.

Kopp faces a charge of murder with a deadly weapon in the death of Sheila Linke, 53.

Linke was last seen the evening of Jan. 26 near West Ann Road and North Jones Boulevard.

According to the Metro police report provided by the Clark County district attorney’s office, Linke told a friend and her supervisor at the Clark County Water Reclamation District on Jan. 26 that she was having problems collecting rent from Kopp and Kathy Atteberry, 46, and was planning to evict them.

On Jan. 27, Linke’s supervisor drove past her residence and saw a man and woman loading items into a white Chevy pickup backed up to the garage, but did not see Linke. The next day, friends returned to Linke’s home, found she was still not there, and filed a missing person’s report with Metro.

According to the report, Kopp told detectives that said he attacked and strangled Linke, who had threatened him with a knife. Kopp said Atteberry helped him get Linke’s body into the bed of his truck. He then said he drove into Arizona and buried her body in the desert near Triangle Airpark near White Hills, Ariz.
