MESQUITE (KSNV MyNews3) – Two California men were arrested over the weekend and charged with breaking into a pair of vehicles.
Jonathan Prado, 18, and Fernando Manzo Jr., 20, both of Los Angeles, were charged with two counts of auto burglary, grand larceny, and possession of stolen property.
They were taken to the Mesquite Detention Center for processing and then transported to the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.
In a news release from the Mesquite Police Department, officers responded to the area of 780 West Hafen Lane on a report of two vehicles being broken into Friday evening.
Witnesses said two Hispanic males in a gray Nissan Sentra with California license plates were seen in the area just before the vehicles being broken into.
Early the next morning, officers observed a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses traveling west on Mesquite Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop for a routine traffic infraction.
Upon contact with the driver, officers noticed several items in the rear passenger area fitting the description of stolen items that was given by the victims.
After further investigation officers determined that the items were in fact stolen and placed both men under arrest.
