LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- If you're moving, before you pack your boxes, here's a Rip-Off Alert from the Better Business Bureau regarding moving and storage companies.
May is one of the busiest months of year for people to move.
The bureau says it also means some companies may be looking for an easy target.
One local man tells us, that's what happened to him when a moving company demanded he pay for more than originally estimated.
“Well, that's an additional charge for the fourth guy. They had us in between a rock and a hard place. What were we going to do?” said Robert Hughes. “They looked at our stuff, they refused to move, they left. Left us high and dry.”
Hughes said the name of the company was "All My Sons Las Vegas Moving and Storage."
He went to the Better Business Bureau website and saw they received an "F" from the company.
He called and a spokesperson says they did not have a record of moving a Robert Hughes, however they movers did leave without moving anythin.
In the past year, Better Business Bureau of southern Nevada received more than 160 complaints from locals.
Here are some tips when looking up an moving company.
Get three estimates in writing -- in your home. Over the phone or online estimates may not be legitimate, says the Bureau.
Then, consider full-value protection. It may cost more but it could mean peace of mind.
