LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Cell phone customers: Don't fall for what appears to be an early holiday gift. In this Rip-Off Alert, scammers are using robocalls and targeting Verizon Wireless consumers.

Pre-taped messages are really out to get your personal information. According to the Better Business Bureau, customers think they have credit on their account.

They direct consumers to a website, which looks legitimate, to enter your information. But the site is a scam.

Verizon uses texts or emails, not calls, to contact its customers. So if you're contacted in an unusual way, watch out.

When in doubt, contact the company yourself -- finding the number online or on your bill.
