LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The deal website Living Social alerted consumers that its database had been hacked.

Of course, it is not the only company to get hit by cyber intruders.

This Rip-Off Alert -- from the Better Business Bureau -- says protection starts with prevention:

-- Create strong passwords and create a different password for each website.

-- Change your password on the affected site, and anywhere else you use it.

-- Be suspicious of any emails from the hacked business, especially ones with attachments or links.

-- Watch your credit and bank information and call your bank if you spot any suspicious activity.
