(NBC News) Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was back in court Wednesday for a probable cause hearing on the first degree murder charges against him.

Hernandez, who has pleaded not guilty to the shooting death last month of Odin Lloyd, is currently being held without bail.

The prosecution requested a continuance that the defense argued against.

The judge refused to dismiss the case and granted the continuance setting another court date for late August.
