LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Las Vegan Connor Fields was seeded fourth after preliminaries this morning in men’s BMX competition at the London Summer Olympics.
Fields had a time of 38.431 seconds, which was 0.652 seconds off the top time turned in by Raymon van der Biezen of the Netherlands.
The top 32 times qualified for Thursday’s four-heat quarterfinals, which are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Fields is the top seed in Heat 2.
The 2012 summer games will be only the second time medals are given in this event.
Meanwhile, former UNLV and Silverado standout Amanda Bingson already competed this morning in London.
Friends and coaches from UNLV set their alarms early and gathered to watch her compete at a Buffalo Wild Wings.
During her first attempt in the hammer throw she threw just over 65 meters. Her second landed at over 66 meters. Sadly, she did not qualify. Her third throw was just over 67 meters.
Bingson finished the competition in 28th place.
She just started throwing the hammer her freshman year at UNLV.
