WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — With a grand slam home run in the first inning and four more to follow, Chicago was no match for Mountain Ridge in the second round of the Little League World Series.
The team from Las Vegas scored its second victory by the 10-run rule, defeating the Great Lakes champion from Chicago, 13-2.
Mountain Ridge is now one victory away from playing for the United States championship.
It's next game will be at 4:30 p.m. (Las Vegas time) on Wednesday. The game will be telecast on ESPN. It will play the winner of tonight’s game between the Southwest and Mid-Atlantic champions.
Bradley Stone’s first-inning grand slam gave Mountain Ridge a 4-0 lead Sunday after the Chicago pitcher walked the first three batters on 12 pitches.
Pitcher Brennan Holligan, allowing two hits in the mercy-rule victory, got the victory.
