LAS VEGAS – As part of the $13.6 million project to reopen F Street under Interstate 15, the Nevada Department of Transportation will implement lane reductions, traffic shifts and various closures that will be in effect through spring.

The traffic impacts begin at 7 p.m. Sunday and represent Phases 2 and 3 of this multiphase project. Traffic impacts will be posted on freeway message boards, NDOT’s website and emailed to the media and stakeholders.

During Phase 2, I-15 will be reduced to two lanes northbound and southbound between Lake Mead and U.S. 95. Northbound freeway traffic will move to the southbound side of the freeway so that crews can construct the northbound portion of the new F Street Bridge.

In addition, the D Street off-ramp from northbound I-15 and the F-D Connector will permanently close from Monday through late fall.

Once the northern portion of the new bridge is complete, Phase 3 will begin. Expected to last until spring, this phase includes moving southbound freeway traffic over to the northbound side of the freeway so that crews can construct the southbound portion of the F Street Bridge.

A temporary ramp to accommodate southbound I-15-to-I-515 also will be built. Two lanes on I-15 will be maintained in each direction throughout the project area.

The F Street Reopening project contains seven phases. Though timelines for the remaining phases haven’t been determined yet, the project is scheduled for completion in late 2014. Additional phases will encompass the following:

•Phase 4: Constructing the S/B I-15- to-I-515 structure, D Street on-ramp over F Street and a storm drain tie-in.
•Phase 5: Replacing barrier rail between southbound I-15/I-515 lanes.
•Phase 6: Improving pavement, curbs, gutters and sidewalks on F Street.
•Phase 7: Constructing F Street under I-15 and a portion of F-D Connector Roadway.
