LAS VEGAS –
The Nevada Department of Transportation
will implement road restrictions on Mount Charleston to facilitate several projects on State Route 158.
The route will be closed from the Deer Creek Picnic Area to the intersection of SR156 from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Friday.
NDOT will cut into the face of the mountain to create sightlines between oncoming traffic and the nearby parking lot, which will be expanded and widened.
During this project, both the picnic area and SR156 will remain open, and area residents will have access to their homes. The general public will be able to access the mountain via SR156 (Lee Canyon) and SR157 (Kyle Canyon).
Residents and members of the public desirous of going from Lee Canyon to Kyle Canyon, and vice versa, will have to go down to U.S. 95 to get across the mountain.
NDOT strives to provide current information about construction schedules and highway and roadway restrictions and closures. Unscheduled restrictions and closures may occur and weather can impact work schedules.-- From news release
