LAS VEGAS — Clark County officials announced Friday that the Las Vegas Beltway would be closed from Decatur Boulevard to Aliante Parkway starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13 until Jan. 23.

The portion of the highway will be closed for installation of a new drainage channel. Construction crews will dig down 36 feet to install a line of massive reinforced concrete boxes. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes to reduce traffic along the detour route.

Large electronic message boards will be placed along the beltway before the closure as notification.

All eastbound traffic will be detoured south onto Decatur Boulevard, then east onto Ann Road and north onto Simmons Street — which becomes Aliante Parkway — before connecting to the beltway.

Westbound traffic will be detoured south onto Aliante Parkway, then west onto Ann Road and north onto Decatur Boulevard to connect with the beltway.

The drainage channel is part of a $116 million improvement project to the beltway that will turn it into a nonstop, four-lane freeway from Aliante Parkway to Tenaya Way. Construction began last month and is scheduled to take about two years to finish.
