LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) --
It took some extra months to build, but a bigger, taller and longer zip line ride -- SlotZilla -- has opened in downtown Las Vegas.
According to its Facebook page
, the ride opened for paying customers at noon Sunday after getting approval from city and county inspectors.
Only the lower level of the two-level ride is open. The higher and longer level is expected to open in a few weeks.
At an estimated cost of $11.5 million, the Fremont Street Experience planned and built the attraction after a third-party operator's lease was not removed.
The lower line covers 850 feet and is 77 feet high. The upper ride will cover 1,700 feet and start 114 feet above the street. Riders will come within three feet of the famous lighted canopy.
Riders will reach speeds up to 35 mph.
The cost is $20 for the lower ride and $30 for the higher ride. Fliers will be able to reserve flight times.
The attraction means more than 100 permanent jobs were created.
