NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks was arrested over the weekend, charged with threatening to harm another public official.

Clark County Democrats are definitely aware of Brooks’ arrest, and they are shocked by the circumstances and want to wait and see how things shake out with the bizarre situation surrounding the allegations.

North Las Vegas police arrested the 40-year-old brooks during a traffic stop. They had been searching for him after hearing about threats against Speaker-elect Marilyn Kirkpatrick. Political sources tell Jon Ralston of News 3’s “Ralston Reports” that Brooks had a loaded gun when he was arrested.

Sources tell Ralston that Brooks had been acting bizarre and irrational the past few weeks and had even been warned before about disruptive behavior in democratic caucus meetings.

Political insiders tell Ralston that brooks had been saying Kirkpatrick's first day as speaker will be her last and that he may have been disgruntled over not being appointed to chair the Ways and Means Committee.

Brooks was elected in 2010 to represent North Las Vegas, directly to the east of Kirkpatrick's district.
Executive director of the Assembly Democratic Caucus, Brendan Summers, released a statement saying, "we understand an investigation is currently ongoing, and we have no further comment at this time."

Bond was set at $100,000.

Think about this. The majority of voters in this voting district were were so stupid or ignorant that they voted for him. Now, who is the more foolish? The fool who threatens another person....publicly, or the fools who voted for him? Ignorant is a matter of choice and cured by age, experience and education, but stupid is genetic in nature, and incurable.
