LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – The lawyer for Brenda Stokes Wilson, the accused murderer of 10-year-old Jade Morris, says there is evidence that will prove her innocence.
Attorney Tony Liker says DNA found in the car Stokes Wilson borrowed to pick jade up shows Jade's blood was mixed with a man's blood.
Police reports show jade's blood was also on Stokes Wilson's clothes, but Liker was not taking questions about that or anything else.
He only wanted people to know that he thinks Stokes Wilson should be stripped of charges.
Meanwhile, teddy bears and candles still sit at the site where Jade's body was found in North Las Vegas.
We reached out to Jade's family for reaction to what this lawyer is claiming. Her grandfather did not want to talk on camera because he says he does not want to give any more energy to Stokes Wilson.
He says Stokes took his granddaughter's life and several weeks of his own life, and much like his plans for this memorial, Jade's grandfather says he's ready for closure.
He says in the near future he's going to be taking down all these items and donating them to local nonprofits.
Liker, Stokes Wilson’s attorney, is looking for donations himself.
“I'm asking the public and anybody that wants to give Brenda a fair shake to read our website and go to our website to read about the evidence or they can give us help by looking at that website,” he said.
He's set up a website with his argument for Stokes Wilson’s innocence and is using it to accept money for the accused killer’s defense.
He says police have it wrong and should be looking for other suspects.
