LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Recent gun violence has led to the creation of products such as bullet-proof backpacks and blankets.

But a unique product that's being developed in Las Vegas could end up being the most popular of all: bullet-proofing a home.

Coming Friday: Local law enforcement officials will share their take on the material and see if they are as enthusiastic as the men who developed it. ONLY on News 3 at 5.
Andrew Dennis and Michael Johnson are not cops or gun enthusiasts. They are design engineers and builders who are firing off Uzis and A-K 47s as part of their routine testing to make sure their futuristic product called Ballisticrete is truly bullet-proof.

The Las Vegas entrepreneurs work from a warehouse near Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The plaster is actually a combination of limestone, magnesium and a magic binder they call their "secret sauce.”

The claims held up at a local gun range and to actual fire.

Dennis and Johnson said they believe Ballisticrete could eventually become a standard application for both commercial and residential structures

They also have contracts with two Las Vegas Strip casinos to upgrade the properties with their specialized plaster, and they have shown the product to the Clark County School District.
