LAS VEGAS -- A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition today at UMC after behind hit by a car while riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon in the northwest part of the valley.

Metro's accident investigation section said the accident occurred about 5:10 p.m. at Delaney Creek Lane and Trailwood Drive.

A 2012 Chevy Malibu hit the boy after he didn't stop at a stop sign on Delaney Creek and continued riding into the intersection at Trailwood Drive.

The boy hit the hood and windshield of the Malibu before falling to the street.

A woman driving the vehicle was not speeding and was not intoxicated, police said. They said she passed a field sobriety test, but officers found open containers of alcohol in the car.

Jamila Taylor, 25, suffered minor injuries and was arrested on other warrants, police said.

Police said three other people in the car were not injured.

Updated: 10/30/2014 5:40:02 AM

PAHOA, HAWAII - OCTOBER 26: In this handout provided by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), A portion of the front of the June 27th lava flow burns through thick vegetation and a fence on October 26, 2014 in Pahoa, Hawaii. Scientists of the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory conducted ground and air observations of the lava flow from the Kilauea Volcano and determined that it was 510 meters (560 yards) upslope from Pa-hoa Village Road and the flow width was about 50 meters (55 yards) at the leading edge. Molten rock from the flow is inching its way towards homes in the town of Pahoa on Hawaii's Big Island where close to a thousand people live. (Photo by USGS via Getty Images) (Handout, 2014 USGS)
