LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A California motorist was killed shortly before 7 a.m. today when he was ejected from his BMW as he lost control trying to exit the freeway at Interstate 215 & South Decatur.
The Clark County coroner's office has identified the man as 32-year-old Maurice Andreas Rucker of Santa Rosa, Calif. No official cause of death was yet available.
"Witnesses said it appeared he had a high rate of speed and what appeared to be a sharp turn he didn't make it to the off-ramp, but to the rocks between the beltway and the exit," Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott told News 3. "The terrain goes downhill pretty quickly so the car rolled several times and he was ejected. He was not wearing a seat belt."
Elliott said the man appeared to be in his 30s, and his car had California plates.
The accident occurred at 6:53 a.m. No other vehicles were involved, Elliott said.
The ramp was reopened at about 10:30 a.m., after the NHP concluded its investigation of the accident.
