NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KSNV MyNews3 & AP) -- Speeding is believed to be the cause of a fatal auto accident on Lake Mead and Simmons Monday morning.
The Clark County Coroner's office identified the woman killed as Las Vegas resident Amelia McCurdy. The official cause of death has not been released.
Investigators say the 26-year-old was killed early Monday when she lost control of a Nissan she was driving at a high rate of speed and struck a wall along westbound Lake Mead Boulevard near Simmons Street. The accident happened at 3:30 a.m.
McCurdy was ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. Traffic was shut down in both directions of the boulevard for several hours.
