LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have identified a man found dead in a northwest Las Vegas backyard shortly after a 72-year-old homeowner reported someone was breaking in.

Clark County coroner's officials say 27-year-old Anthony C. Guerra died of a gunshot wound in the incident reported about 8 a.m. Monday.

Police say the homeowner reported the apparent burglary and fired a gun before police arrived.

Authorities arrived at the scene and arrested one suspect in a vehicle that had crashed into a patrol car. They say another would-be intruder fled on foot.

Officer Bill Cassell said Guerra had a gun with him.

Cassell says the homeowner may not face criminal charges. He wasn't identified by police.

Police say his home was burglarized before within the last several weeks.

I really feel sorry for this 72 year old man, he is just trying to live out what life he has left, protecting everything he had worked for all his life, and three guys take it upon themselves to make his life miserable. I really hope this 72 year old is not feeling any guilt because he was doing what every righteous and decent citizen should do protect their property and life.

Cant wait to hear the idiots family, saying what a wonderful man he was, and how he didnt deserve to die. They will probably even try to sue this poor elderly gentleman, as if he hasnt been through enough already. He is a hero for helping to clean up our streets, if you ask me!!!

What Charges! This man did nothing wrong in defending himself, his family and home from invaders. If Metro sees fit to arrest this man then they should prepare to come on and arrest us all in Las Vegas. We will stand our ground.

Charged with what crime, killing an armed burglar? There is no charge to be brought against a man defending his property, life, and well being.

I hope this man is not charged. He needs to protect himself due to a recent attempted break in before this one. And this burglar had a gun. It could have easily gone south.
