LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The Clark County coroner's office has confirm the identity and cause of death of the Creech Air Force Base airman whose body was found Friday afternoon in a truck in the desert east of Mount Charleston.

TSgt. Derek Langford, 31, a 13-year veteran of the Air Force, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to an examiner from the coroner's office.

Langford went missing Tuesday night after he took a 1992 GMC truck for a test drive in the area of Corn Creek Road and U.S. 95.

He was found late Friday afternoon by Red Rock Search & Rescue volunteers after a short search.

His family and friends said Langford cherished his 5-year-old daughter. He had served in Iraq and Afghanistan during his career, his brother said.
