LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Members of Metro, the Henderson Police Department and the FBI make up the Criminal Apprehension Team.
A spot on that force is considered one of the most dangerous assignments in law enforcement.
Former Metro Sgt. Chris Leveque, who had been on the task force, says the team members' mission is to track down the worst of the worst.
These days, the fugitives, murder suspects and robbers the task force is assigned to arrest are better equipped and ready to take risks, according to Metro Sheriff Doug Gillespie.
In August, the FBI said Joshua Burchell -- a person of interest in a homicide case -- pulled out a gun when the valley's Criminal Apprehension Task Force tried arresting him in the back parking lot of Arizona Charlie's near Boulder Highway and Twain.
An FBI agent with the task force shot and killed Burchell.
The task force says safety is a priority when catching criminals.
