LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A Delta Airlines 737 had to abort a takeoff Friday afternoon at McCarran International Airport when a private jet was on final approach on an intersecting runway.

"Controllers canceled the Delta jets' takeoff clearance as a precaution," Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford told News 3 in an email on Saturday afternoon. "A preliminary analysis showed that safe separation would have been maintained. The canceled takeoff clearance was precautionary."

Lunsford said the event is being reviewed, adding, "Our preliminary review of the radar data showed there was no conflict."

Delta Flight 2483 was bound for Atlanta with 160 passengers and six crew members and had to stop its takeoff roll shortly before 3 p.m., according to Morgan Durrant, a Delta Airlines spokesman.

"I don't know what type of plane it was, but an aircraft was about to cross the runway that the Delta flight was taking off from," Durrant told News 3. "I don't know the speed the plane was at, but the wheels locked up because of friction and two tires deflated."

Durrant said the passengers and crew were taken by bus to the terminal, received food and drink, and were put on a different plane and left about four hours late for Atlanta.
