BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The husband of a former Bullhead City mayor was killed by a family dog and she received major injuries.

Thomas Vick, 64, died Saturday evening at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center after he and his wife, Diana Vick, tried to break up a fight between two of their dogs, according to Bullhead City Police Department Lt. Nick Sessions.

"We responded about 5:45 p.m. to their residence and found out that a cocker spaniel and a boxer were fighting," Sessions said. "When they tried to break up the fight the boxer attacked both of them. He died and she was flown to Las Vegas and I understand she may need surgery today."

The boxer was taken into custody by the local animal control department, Sessions said.
