LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Nearly 30 dogs that were rescued after a pet shop owner allegedly attempted to set fire to her store are being cared for at Lied Animal Shelter. They are not available yet for adoption.

Gloria Lee, 35, faces felony charges of arson and conspiracy to commit arson. She is scheduled for arraignment Monday at 8 a.m. at Las Vegas Justice Court.

Clark County firefighters said Saturday that Lee was arrested  after she set her store, the Prince And Princess Puppy Boutique at 6870 S. Rainbow Blvd., ablaze last Monday morning with dogs still inside.

According CCFD Chief John Steinbeck, firefighters arrived to find a fire inside the business and 28 dogs inside. He said a sprinkler system had activated and had started to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were able to put out the remainder of the fire and rescue more than two dozen dogs.

Steinbeck said the design of the cages helped protect the animals. He said firefighters did not find any signs of injury to the dogs, but said smoke inhalation could become a factor later.

The animals cannot be adopted until their release is approved by the court.

The business sustained $100,000 in damages. Nobody was injured in the fire.
