NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- A fatal shooting Friday morning at a business has been ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner's office.

John Vito Ventura, 47, died of multiple gunshot wounds shortly after 9 a.m. inside a business on West Cheyenne Avenue.

On Friday at 9:07 a.m., dispatch received the report of a fight inside a business. Officers found a man in extremely critical condition on the ground inside the business with multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel transported the man to UMC Trauma, where he died.

According to North Las Vegas police, the preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting victim reportedly entered the business and started a physical fight with a 43-year-old employee.

A 53-year-old employee pulled a gun and shot the man. The 43-year-old man sustained non-life threatening injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

Investigators believe the men knew each other and that this was not a random act of violence. No arrests have been made and detectives continue to investigate the case.

Anyone with additional information about the case is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
