LAS VEGAS -- Fire dispatchers received a call from a passer-by on Kyle Canyon Road that a barn was on fire between mile markers 15 and 16 at 3:44 a.m. Monday.
On arrival firefighters found a barn, in the 8400 block of Candy Street, fully involved with fire. The barn was situated on a rural property about four miles from U.S. 95 off Kyle Canyon Road.
There are no fire hydrants in the area; water that is carried in the water tanks of the fire engines and a fire tanker from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue was used to keep the fire from spreading to other structures on the property.
The barn was caving in when firefighters arrived on scene. They were met by the person who lives there, who was not injured.
Firefighters are expected to be on the property for several hours dousing hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clark County Fire Department. The property is located outside the city of Las Vegas in unincorporated Clark County.
