LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3.com) -- The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Southern Nevada effective from Saturday afternoon through Monday evening.
The NWS watch also includes northwest Arizona and parts of California.
In Nevada, areas in the watch area include Las Vegas, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the Sheep and Spring Mountains, Red Rock and northeast Clark County.
Areas in Arizona include Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, northwest deserts and northwest plateau.
California areas include San Bernardino County and the Upper Colorado River Valley.
The NWS says the highest risk for flash flooding will occur during teh afternoon and early evening hours each day.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. All people in and near the watch areas should be alert to the potential for heavy rainfall and resulting water runoff that can quickly lead to flash flooding.
