LAS VEGAS -- As a precaution, the city of Las Vegas has closed access to the lakes at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs so that the water can be tested.

Recently the city has received reports of as many as 15 dead ducks in and around the ponds at the park, located at 9200 Tule Springs Road in the northwest part of the city.

Other waterfowl and ducks seem to be healthy and doing fine in the park, but in an abundance of caution, the city has decided to close the lakes to fishing and work with the Nevada Department of Wildlife in testing the water.

The city has no evidence that the water is tainted, but to ensure the safety of the public and the animals at the park the tests will be conducted.

The lakes are normally open for fishing, but that will not be allowed while the ponds are closed. Other areas of the 680-acre park will remain open for use by the public, and the city apologizes for any inconveniences that the closure of the lakes may cause.
