NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A man who was apparently leaving the scene of a minor parking lot accident ran a red light and was killed early Saturday morning.

North Las Vegas police report that about 12:30 a.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle crash between a Jeep and a sedan in the intersection of West Lake Mead Boulevard and Texas Star Lane. Officers found a 37-year-old man lying in the roadway unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel. Three other men were transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Jeep was involved in a minor crash in the parking lot of Texas Station. He was reportedly attempting to flee from that crash when he drove northbound on Lake Mead Boulevard. Evidence suggests he failed to stop for the red light as he exited the parking lot and encroached the path of a sedan that was traveling eastbound on Lake Mead. There were three occupants of the sedan; an 18-year-old driver, an 18-year-old passenger, and a 28-year-old passenger.

Evidence suggests the driver of the Jeep was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected during the crash. It is unknown at this time if drugs and alcohol may have been a factor.

The accident was the eighth fatal accident in North Las Vegas this year.
