LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A 43-year-old Las Vegas man has been charged with killing his parents.
Metro said in a news release that Joseph McManus has been charged with two counts of murder with a deadly weapon with a victim over 60 years of age.
Metro said the original call came shortly before 9 p.m. Friday to a home in the 4300 block of Cottontail Lane near East Flamingo and South Pecos.
The first officers on the scene said McManus told them that he entered the home to find his parents deceased, but an investigation by the homicide section indicated that McManus shot the victims during an altercation.
The man was deceased at the scene while the woman was transported to Sunrise Trauma where she later died from her injuries.
McManus is being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. April 3.
Metro said its investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro's homicide section at (702) 828-3521 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or go to crimestoppersofnv.com.
The identity of the victims as well as the manner and cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner's office.
