BOULDER CITY (KSNV MyNews3) – A man jumped to his death this afternoon by Hoover Dam.

Officials want to remind the public that there are several help lines available if thoughts of suicide are prevalent. Follow this link for assistance.
Bureau of Reclamation officials say that the man was hanging onto a railing for two hours before letting go. Witnesses say he hit the rocks and fell into the water. Officials have recovered the body.

This is the third suicide off the O'Callaghan-Tillman bridge this year.

The investigation has been turned over to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the victim’s identity.

Traffic was tied up for several hours as officials closed the U.S. 93 Hoover Dam Bypass bridge in an attempt to talk the man down.

At least a collective lifetime was wasted on the roads and many people including myself were rerouted into a severe storm as a result. Authorities should look at the bigger picture and not close a main road to save one life that was willed to end anyway. Stupid policy really. At least the police could've tasted him and opened the road quickly.

To the people that were not at the scene and did not have you kids there to witness this event it was horrid and nothing to joke about. You want to talk about "Just let him jump," and "Quit holding up traffic" maybe you should get a life and realize a human life is worth more than you petty drive time to get home to check your facebook and talk to your cyber friends. I feel horrible for the family and the other adults that were there while we were today with their children. We will pray for the family and that others find different ways to find resolution with their problems. Also, the police were on the bridge with the gentlemen the entire time we were there and we believed they would resolve the problem without death. Today was a bad day, but not because of a traffic hold up or news report, but because a heman life was taken for reason unknown.

I have to agree with the fact that this really isn't news. If he fell on the rocks and into the water, why the traffic hold up??? I don't quite see what there is to investigate. He was obviously depressed and wanted to end his life and succeeded. It's sad for his family that he left behind.

just a wolf hmm its not are fault your kids don't call you so maybe you could jump and we could write nasty things about you that sounds like fun.so you waited in traffic a little longer today maybe you should have just enjoyed the time you had to complain and reflected on why nobody calls you. but don't take this the wrong way i am sure you are perfect in your own mind..

JustAWolf I agree with you 100 percent if he wants to jump, jump. All he wanted was attention so now lets waste thousands and thousands of dollars so that swat and local police can come out, guess what they didnt even talk him down, he jumped, what a waste of time.

JustAWolf...you must be one cold hearted bastard!! I also find your comment very offensive. To the family/friends/co-worker of the deceased: You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will also pray for the deceased. He obviously had more than he could deal with and did not know any other way to handle it...that does not make him a bad person.
