NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The investigation continues into what may have prompted a murder-suicide in North Las Vegas involving a father and daughter.
Gunshots rang out early Sunday morning and 53-year-old Gregory Landis is dead, along with daughter 25-year-old Amanda Landis.
North Las Vegas police say the murder suicide went down at a home in the 4100 block of Hollis Street.
Neighbors say these are tough circumstances to absorb.
"It's tragic. I don't know they are so family oriented. I'm family-oriented as well so to have something like that happen: to lose your sister and your dad. I can't imagine what the family is going through," said neighbor Miriah Vergara.
Neighbors say family members occupy two homes, across the street from each other.
"Honestly you would only see them across the street, but they would go back and forth," Vergara said.
Other neighbors tell us the Landis family is very nice, and brought cookies over during the holidays; and chatted about small things, They say indicated the drastic actions that ended in the loss of two lives.
Police say two other family members were home when the shooting happened, but were not hurt.
While police try to piece together what led to this violent ending, the family is left painfully trying to deal with this tragedy, saying goodbye to two loved ones.
