LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) --It was one of the largest trafficking stings in the nation's history. More than 100 children rescued from prostitution in many states and one of those teenagers is from our own backyard.

News 3's John Treanor has been following this story all day says this operation required a coordinated effort.

The biggest mission like this in history from New York to California, locals and federal agents worked together here in Las Vegas Metro and the feds arrested 41 prostitutes and a pimp but perhaps the most important part was one person, a teenage victim of sex trafficking.

It was a sting operation unlike America has ever seen. The sting happened in 76 cities over three days with Officers in the streets and in hotel rooms tracking prostitution and the children forced into it.

Nevada is in the heart of it with 42 two arrests in Las Vegas, including one pimp and 41 prostitutes and one life saved, a juvenile.

In Reno another child rescued and two pimps in handcuffs.

In all operation cross country took more than 100 kids off the streets and arrested 150 pimps.
A big number but one that Andrea Sampson says isn't even a peek in the window.

“From last year’s numbers there were over 100 juveniles taken off of streets in Las Vegas so no that number isn’t representative,” said Andrea Sampson, a mother of a victim.

For Sampson every child taken out of prostitution is a personal victory. In every picture, every name, she sees her daughter who when she was just 16 was forced into prostitution by a boyfriend.

“We knew there was something wrong with our teenage daughter but we didn’t know what. We were blindsided by this,” Sampson said.

While the effort, the sting, was great the result Sampson tells us is just the beginning.

A sign of the country's commitment to fighting a hidden crime, playing out on our city streets.

This case marked the 2700th kid to be rescued from sex trafficking.

None of the names the arrested men and women have been released.
