LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- It was a parade mixed with pride and in this election year, politics. Candidates from each end of the political spectrum came to the fiesta Las Vegas parade on Saturday.
Congressional opponents Steven Horsford and Danny Tarkanian were there and so were senate Candidates Shelly Berkley and Dean Heller. President Obama also got some parade publicity from a rising star in the democratic party, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro.
Latin music artist Graciela Beltran, La Reina del Pueblo, was the
Fiesta Las Vegas Latino Parade & Festival Grand Marshall on Saturday, September 15.
The parade began at 10 a.m. on 4th Street and Gass Ave and travels north.
The festival, which features international artists, cultural performances, diverse folkloric dances, traditional foods, community informational booths, and family activities, will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Freemont Street Experience & Ogden St.
Both events are free to the public. The press is invited to cover the awards ceremony that will follow the parade at 1:00p.m at Freemont Street Experience and Ogden.

Fiesta Las Vegas will celebrate cultural diversity and highlight unique customs that make Latino culture special. Fiesta Las Vegas will feature an array of colorful floats, performing artists, traditional food and family activities.
ROAD CLOSURES: 6 a.m. - closures begin at staging areas at 4th & Bridger streets, between 4th and Casino Center Boulevard on Coolidge Avenue, Hoover Avenue and Gass Avenue
FULL CLOSURE from 7 a.m.: 4th Street between Charleston Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.
