LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The U.S. Forest Service confirms the fire has taken down six structures so far.
One was a commercial building; flames engulfed the other five on a single property.
Pictures are all Barry Becker has left to remember some of the structures on his Prospect Springs Ranch.
Becker is one of 11 people who co-own the 40-acre property. He heard earlier this week that the wildfire consumed the southern half of the ranch.
The mountain is closed to the public, but Becker had a chance to see the devastation on his ranch first-hand. He estimates that there was $1 million in damage.
“It's burnt to the ground,” he said. “There's nothing but charred timbers and discolored tin.”
While Becker is thankful that the northern half of the property was spared and no lives were lost, he knows the oasis he helped create just won't be the same.
“In two years we can probably have our lodge back, but it’s going to be five to 10 years before the forest starts looking like it used to,” he said.
