LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- People who live in the southwest Las Vegas neighborhood where former LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner had a home say they are feeling a sense of relief, knowing the accused killer may be accounted for.
Others say they were never really all that scared.
Neighbors who spoke on and off camera say after all they saw happen this past week with SWAT and federal agents raiding Dorner's home, along with all the media coverage of that raid, they thought Dorner would be foolish to return here.
Still, they say it's good to know the possibility of him coming back is very unlikely.
Laura Pujol knew nothing of what was going on when the FBI and SWAT stormed Dorner's home last Thursday.
“Not knowing a whole lot except walking into it last week was kind of a shock, and I didn't really find out what it was all about until I was driving to work the next morning,” SHE SAID.
In the days afterward, Pujol and her daughter, Jessica, watched television to learn about Dorner's dark intentions to kill.
But Tuesday's media coverage -- showing a cabin on fire that Dorner was believed to be trapped inside -- allowed the Pujols to breathe a small sigh of relief.
While neighbors may have their guard down a little bit, that's not the same for police.
Metro officials said they'll be keeping two officers together at all times until further notice.
