LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A Rip-Off Alert from the Better Business Bureau targets those looking for work in modeling or acting.

Victims have been told that they are hired and receive bogus checks that cover fees and expenses; in turn, the “new hires” are asked to send in $350. The envelopes sometimes bear the Better Business Bureau name -- that's a false sense of credibility, says the bureau.

Once the bank realizes the check is a fake, you'll be out the money and the $350 you wired. The major red flag here is the request for money.

The bureau says be mindful as scammers will use a credit check fee or training costs as a ruse.
