LAS VEGAS --
For many the holidays are a time to spend with the ones you love most.
Sadly, that's not the reality for many foster kids, but a local organization is working to change that.
Each year, the St. Jude's Ranch for Children
holds a special event at Circus Circus to reconnect broken families.
Today at Santa's Workshop, the kids got to write letters to their brothers and sisters.
About 100 volunteers came out to help with this special day.
Also, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children will present its sixth annual “Night of Lights” fundraising event from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8 in Boulder City.
The event is a family-friendly holiday celebration of the ranch and its mission of helping local children. It is open to the public.
Admission is $25 for an all-experience wristband that includes selections from a special Italian menu provided by Tom and Jack Campione, owners of the Campione D’Italia restaurant. Children 3 and younger are admitted free.
The night will be filled with carolers, cuisine and lots of holiday cheer for families and special guests.
Party-goers will enjoy a beautifully lit and decorated holiday campus, a silent auction filled with wonderful items for the holidays and beyond, photos with Santa Claus, “s’mores” stations for dessert, arts and crafts activities and other forms of Yule-inspired entertainment.
But the big moment of the night, of course, will be the arrival of Santa Claus at 5:30 p.m., escorted by actual members of the U.S. Secret Service.
After the big man in the red suit makes his festive appearance, the main stage will welcome Alonzo “Turf” Jones, the Bay Area hip-hop dancer who wowed the nation on the “America’s Got Talent” TV show, for a wild performance of amazing dance and infectious music.-- KSNV MyNews3 staff and wire reports
