LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) --
Metro is investigating an early Sunday homicide that killed one person and wounded two more in a parking lot outside a lounge in the 5100 block West Spring Mountain Road.
One of the two who survived is described as being in extremely critical condition.
The shooting was in a parking lot at the Cazino Lounge.
One woman who refused to give News 3 her name said she was in a car when the shooting began. She said one of the wounded might have been a man just walking by the parking lot. She said she was inside the club before closing time and did not see a fight or altercation that might have led to the shooting.
"Officers heard gunshots about 4:03 a.m. and went to investigate," Metro Officer Bill Cassell told News 3. "They found three victims with apparent gunshot wounds. All were transported to the hospital and one of them has subsequently died."
A Metro news release said officers on routine patrol in the area of the 5100 block of West Spring Mountain Road heard the sound of gunfire coming from a nearby business complex.
Officers responded to the scene and located three individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The individuals were transported to the UMC Trauma Center by medical personnel, where one of the injured parties was pronounced deceased shortly after 5 a.m.
One of the two additional injured parties remains in extremely critical condition, and the third suffered what has been described as non-life threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation by the Homicide Section has indicated a lounge within the complex was closing at the normal time, and patrons were exiting the establishment. While patrons were in the parking lot numerous shots were fired, resulting in the three subjects being hit by gunfire.
The identity of the deceased individual, along with the exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
