LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Two men are dead this morning after a wrong-way, head-on collision on U.S. 95 just northwest of Las Vegas.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has confirmed that the 7:15 a.m. accident on U.S. 95 near Corn Creek Road killed both drivers.

"We got a call at 7:13 about a wrong-way driver in a silver Acura headed southbound in the northbound lanes; a few minutes later we got the call about the accident," Trooper Jeremie Elliott told News 3. "We have no idea yet where the wrong-way driver originated in the northbound lanes."

Elliott said the Acura hit a Subaru head-on.  The men driving each vehicle were the only occupants.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The names and residences of the drivers will be released by the Clark County coroner's office after relatives have been notified.

Traffic has been diverted to State Route 157, meaning vehicles have to go up the mountain to get around the accident site. Elliott said U.S. 95 should be reopen by 11 a.m.
