UMC asking county for a $20M loan to pay bills

LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- University Medical Center is asking for a $20 million loan from the county's capital projects fund.

The hospital says, the amount the state pays each care provider for Medicaid payments was cut by $21 million in the most recent county budget.

Hospital administration says it will likely suffer significant cash flow deficits without the loan.

Commissioner Lawrence Weekly isn't surprised at the news after all its not a new problem one that may have been created on the desks of commissioners like weekly and in the state capital.
