LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Las Vegas physician, his aide and a pharmacist from Michigan are facing federal drug distribution and money laundering charges after they were accused of distributing prescription oxycodone and other painkillers and trying to hide $263,000 in proceeds.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said Thursday that Dr. Henri Wetselaar and assistant David Litwin were arrested in Nevada, where they were being held pending arraignment in U.S. District Court.

Jason C. Smith was arrested at his home in Ira, Mich., and appeared before a federal magistrate in Detroit who freed him from custody pending an appearance in federal court in Las Vegas.

The three were named in a 23-count indictment handed up Sept. 21 and unsealed Thursday.

A message left at Wetselaar's office was not immediately returned.
