LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- A 55-year-old woman was rescued Sunday afternoon after a fall of about 30 feet in the southwest part of the valley.

Metro police said the woman was in a remote residential area near Exploration Park when she fell about 30 feet onto a steep ledge about 1:45 p.m.

"The early report was that she broke both legs in the fall," said Metro information Office Bill Cassell. "The fire department got to her and did the initial treatment, but they could not get her out. We called in a Search & Rescue helicopter and flew her out shortly after 3 p.m.

Cassell said the woman was taken to UMC Trauma with injuries that were not life-threatening.
